Specialist Nurse

Employer: Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Trust

Hours: 37.5 (permanent)

Pay Scheme: Band 6

A vacancy has arisen for a Specialist Nurse within the Chrysalis Eating Disorders Service. The team provides specialist assessment and treatment for adults with an eating disorder, in an out-patient setting. The team is based in Chertsey but is part of a developing Surrey-wide service. A genuine interest in Eating Disorders is an absolute requirement, but previous experience in the field is not essential as we are fully committed to staff education and training.

The successful applicant will be an experienced RMN, with at least 5 years experience. At least one year’s experience in managing an individual caseload, either in the community or in a specialist service, is essential.  Applicants must be able to demonstrate an approach which is ‘psychologically minded’.

RGN qualification is not essential, but given the unique combination of physical and mental health features of eating disorders, applicants must show an awareness of the dual risks present in eating disorders.

Applicants must be able to act autonomously and decisively in rapidly changing situations, and will sometimes have to work without direct supervision.

You will be required to provide a liaison consultancy role with a number of professional and non-professional agencies.

We are seeking a highly motivated and committed member of staff to join our multi-disciplinary team. You must have a flexible approach, have and be able to work within a team. This is a challenging role which offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing service.
