Fundraising

Here at beat our fundraisers play a vital role.

It is thanks to their commitment that we can continue to provide services to those affected by eating disorders. Currently, our services reach thousands of people everyday - with your help, they can grow and reach more.

On these pages, you'll find information on becoming a beat fundraiser. If you want to get involved, send me an e-mail and I'll post you a fundraising pack.

Thanks - and good luck with your fundraising.

Curvy Girls Miss England Heat looking for support

Curvy Girls Miss England Heat looking for support

CURVY girls have been encouraged to enter Miss Natural Curves, a direct heat in the Miss England final in aid of beat.

The competition is open to healthy women from a UK size 8 plus– the winner of which will automatically go into the finals of Miss England 2010 and win a modelling contract with top plus size model agency, Hughes Model Management, among other prizes.

The grand final will be held on Saturday, April 24th 2010 at the Civic Hall in Bedworth, where 24 of the remaining contestants will fight it out to be the UK’s first ever Miss Natural Curves.

Kerry Edge, competition co-ordinator said: “The success of this new competition has really shown us that the involvement of curvy, healthy women in the fashion and modelling industries can really be successful, and as a result, we can dispel the myths in these industries that skinny equals beautiful.”

The competition needs some financial support from National and local companies to help raise funds for beat in return for media exposure, and advertising prior to and at the event final.

If your company is interested in being involved with Miss Natural Curves 2010, please contact Kerry Edge on 01455 610782 or email kerry@reillystudios.co.uk

More details regarding the competition can be found on our website: www.missnaturalcurves.co.uk

Alix to tackle historic challenge

beat fundraiser Alix Robertson has decided to swim the famous Gibraltar Strait - and raise thousands of pounds for people affected by eating disorders.

The Strait of Gibraltar is a narrow strip of water connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. Since the 1920s, only two women have swum the strait. Next September, Alex and her friend Camilla are hoping to double that figure!

We're tremendously excited to have Alix on board and look forward to bringing you lots more news over the coming months. Keep an eye on it - this one is going to be big.

Wing Commander Tinworth joins marathon team

We’re very pleased to announce that Wing Commander Martin Tinworth – who prefers to be known as Tinny – will be running the Virgin London Marathon for beat.

Tinny decided to run the marathon when one of his best friends, Chris Robinson, lost his daughter, Charlotte, to anorexia. He is hoping to raise over £3000 to help other families affected by eating disorders.

I hope you’ll join us in thanking Tinny by sponsoring him here.
