Over-activity, Impulsivity and Inattention

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autistic Spectrum Disorders are conditions affecting some adults with mental health difficulties. Although originally thought to affect only children, we now know symptoms persist into adulthood in around 65% of cases. In addition, ADHD often contributes to common psychiatric problems such as anxiety and depression, it is important we find out about the extent to which it might affect people with eating disorders.

What will taking part involve?

We would ask you to complete some screening questionnaires about your levels of attention and activity now and from when you were 7-12 years old. These should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. There will also be some questions regarding eating disorder symptoms.

Whenever possible we would also like to ask someone who knows you well (such as one of your parents, a partner or a close friend) to complete the same questionnaires about you. This is particularly useful for the questions about your childhood as parents often recall this period the best. Once you have completed them you will be asked to return them to the researcher in an enclosed stamped and addressed envelope, with the completed consent form.

If this sounds like something that you would like to help out with, then we would love to hear from you! To request a questionnaire pack, obtain further information about the study, or if you have any queries about participating, you can contact the researchers of this study:
