Hey all,

Just need some assurance that im 'ok' really.

The nurse has made me start keeping a food diary and I am soooo ashamed to present it to her. I just feel like a pig.

I looked at my food diary over the last 2 days and I have consumed around * of the normal daily requirments foor a woman...each day and I still feel like a PIG!

Its made me start restricting again and I felt terrible for binging after restricting, then purging but i cant help it. Now I have to write down what I ate and purged and its just another failure shes gonna see.

Im starting to wonder wether I sould lie and put down less, because I just feel so humiliated. Its like shes reading my diary.

I fear she'll think I have OCD because im sooo specific about my calorie intake and it show in the diary.

Sorry to go on but I just Need some words of encouragement atm.

Please help, but not if u dnt wnt 2......no pressure lol.

XxXx

Hi,

I used to have to do a food diary, so i know how you feel. I used to feel so ashamed at having my psychiatrist read it, and once i ate something calorific and she went '*! That's more like it!' and that just made me feel even worse.

You shouldn't lie and put down less, because she needs to know exactly what you are eating in order to help you, i thought about doing that but then i realised that there wasn't any point.

I have ED-NOS/Anorexia and i am 17 today, and i have been an inpatient as well. I would be happy to talk to you *hugs*

take care,

I think a food diary really helps as I am hopeless at lying, so I make sure it looks good and it makes me eat more structured and better things!

Hey Steph,

I have to keep a food diary too, well i have stopped now cause i just found it too embarrasing to show somebody how much i was eating. I know how you feel!

A couple of times i did lie and put down that i ate less, although thinking back it was probably a bit stupid because i need to be diagnosed with my actual ED so i can get the help i need. I know how tempting it is, i gave into temptation but just think about it seriously before you write a lie. You can't really take it back once you have written it. It's not really helped me, i often think, was it worth it? I mean they have seen it before, they know about ED's and how many calories a person can consume during a binge, so try not to be embarrased.

I also have to keep a diary that she reads, it is so hard letting her read it but it is the only way she knows what i am thinking (because i find it really hard to open up in my sessions)

Just remember that she is only trying to help you. You have an illness (i hate calling it that) and she is trying to treat you to make you better.

Hun, you are 'ok'!!

Take Care,

Love Roxy

P.S HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILLIES!!

Hey

Please dont feel ashamed or annoyed at having to keep a food diary. It is totally normal and you are NOT a pig. I ahd to do exactley what u have to do and still do in a way. At first i felt ashamed etc like you but as time goes on it will start to feel ok and normal... just try and think.. u have to show the nurse that your responsible and doing ok, dont be ashamed of what ur eating and dont lie about it...it sounds hard but its for the best. ive done it...if u need ANY help please just ask.... im always here

hey

its great that you're in recovery and want to beat this however hard you're finding it and hun you're more than 'ok'. i can understand how you feel after they have read you're food diary, but is that just the illness talking sweetheart. Do you think if you'll be honest then they'll be seeing something they haven't seen before already? you really can do this be soft  on yourself, you've made it this far which is fantastic. If you're dishonest dyou think it'll help or hinder your recovery? it will get better if you keep fighting, and easier. look after yourself hun
