We have been working closely over the past year with the production team of Hollyoaks regarding an eating disorder storyline that many of you will be aware of.

There is a questionnaire on the Hollyoaks website that you may be interested in completing.  You can find it online at:-  http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/H/hollyoaks/

You might not have the power to do this or whatever, but there is alot on the hollyoaks site about anorexia and binge eating and bulimia, but would they be able to please write something about EDNOS? Hardly anybody knows what it is or that it exists, and I think it can be just as serious as anything else. When its not mentioned I think that its not as important an eating disorder as the others. thanks

Hi There

I've been watching Hollyoaks recently.  It just shows how scary it is suffering from an eating disorder.  For about a year I was unsure to whether I was suffering from Anorexia but thanks to this website, information and Hollyoaks it's made things a bit more clearer for me.

I think it would be a good idea to have some more programmes on telly about ed's and also in the papers so taht people realise how serious dieting etc is.

“We are very encouraged by the bold decision of the makers of Hollyoaks to portray eating disorder issues in such a realistic and responsible way.

The production team have gone to great lengths to ensure the accuracy, as far as an ‘entertainment’ medium will allow, behind the storyline.

The scripts are finalised up to six months in advance and, although we are happy to pass on your suggestions, it is doubtful that at this stage, any

alteration to the script would be considered.”

We understand that it is difficult when there are progammes showing an experience that you may be going through.

Maybe it would be helpful for you to call a friend, go for a walk, or come on our website instead.

I have been watching it intently! my friend was over and she said that she didnt like Melissa and Hannah because of their eating disorder, I was really annoyed at this and Im now talking to her less and less. The main reason I rang the b-eat helpline was because of Hollyoaks. I can really identify with it and I'm also very happy that rather than glamourise anorexia, it shows the worst that can get.

Hollyoaks is scary, everything that has happened to me has happened to Hannah but Hannah got better, i know she is older then me (as well as not existing) and that makes it easier for her to recover (i think) but why can't i?

Hey BabyBoo.

Hannah is recovering and she is now out of Hospital, and looks a lot healthier as well as a lot happier.

I think it was done well, and showed just how hard it is.

People's reactions to it has hurt me, but at the same time, I think that the 'real' people, who are 'real' and 'kind' and not just think of themselves, may have more of an understanding now? xxx

Hollyoaks tries to shows the tries and difficulties of eating disorders? So, have they removed all the above-average pretty girls that dominate most of the show?

Sorry if I offended anyone.

I thought it was really good, but she's just so happy now, and although she does have the odd blip, I just think 'if only'!!

I do think that they covered it really well though, at the time, and I think that she was brilliant at acting it out. x

I think it was really good. And like most have said, it was brilliant acting.

But I would have liked to see more of the recovery side of things. For me it seems to have happened over night. She's recovered just like that...

However, to say that it is just a soap after all.. I thought overall it was fantastic.
