Hi

I am working on a resource for beat and really would love your help.

To encourage sufferers what would you say to them? I need positive inspirational quotes, things that have helped you, ideas, how to challenge thoughts, action statements, goals etc.

Please let me know on this thread or email me at m.curtis@b-eat.co.uk

Look forward to hearing from you

Thanks

Mel

You are trying to gain control of your life, yet you are allowing something else to consume you?  If you have defied the forces of human nature through your eating disorder, that makes you one of the strongest people alive.  You can do ANYTHING you set your mind to, but only when your mind is YOURS.

heyaa

iam recoverd, and it was totally down to myself. i was sat on rest thinking to myself, what kind of life is this, look what the vocie has done to me, how much pain and suffering it has caused.

i found something inside of me, some strength, and willpower, and i was so determined to beat it. as i ate, the vocie got weaker. i killed the voice, and its never come back. iam so happy now.

remmebr this, aslong as you find these inside of yourself, youll get thru anything!

-strength

-determination

-willpower

-courage

and hope.

i was in hospital, and they called me unique, and an insperation. i think its because i held on, and put up a fight, and beat it without any therepy.

therepy may help, but the only thing that can get you better, is yourself. :)

"sometimes its best to forget what you feel, and remember what you deserve"-

You will never be 100% ready for recovery-stop waiting for this momnet to come your way - you will be waiting forever, jump! when nobody else can do it for you"

"He asked me "what have you got to loose, "i answered, nothing- it took every piece of me away"

"I will not alwyas have to live with others, but i will always have to live with myself"

"Act - because i want too, because i choose too, because i can"

"Consider all the time and energy you have put into having an eating disorder, and ask yourself, if this is what i can do when i am sick, what would i be capable off if i was well?"

Some of these i have found, others i have collaberated and some i have written myself- at the momnet i have these sayings pinned to my mirror. some are sayings relevant to the start of recovery but most of them are things , feelings and obstacles i have discoverd on the road to recovery. Its a jouney of self discovery, its scary- but you start to belive it will be worth every minute. Not everything falls into place as and when you need. its bloody hard, and i no what it feels like - but what else can you do-lye down and give up? or fight?

Theres no point saying "I have to recover for other people". Until you think YOU are worth recorvering for, anorexia will never go away.

You don't have to "become" anorexia, it's ok to let it go.

Pink pearl i love your saying sometimes when you start to become consumed by an eating disorder and then you realise its time to get better, you sometimes feel like you never reached a good enuf place in the eating disoder- like you never gt thin enough, thin as a reallyyy sick person. but the most successful anorexic isnt alive anymore. You start to belive its something to achive to be able to say look i can do this.

but when you go down that road its never ending, its never happy, and its never worth it. its an illusion of the way you want to feel

but you never find that feeling you are looking for until you except you can be and you are more than "An eating disorder" , you are scared you will never be enuf if your just you. but ther are thousands of people with eating disorders. there is only one "you"

Another one: Don't dream too far, don't lose sight of who you are.

I think the longer you life with an ED the further away you get from the real you and the ED takes over and becomes you.  Sometimes it's hard to know the difference between what's real and what's the ED. Try and remember what was important to you before the ED and don't let dreams of becoming your goal weight stop you from achieving you 'real' dreams.

If any of that makes sense!!!?
