Hello, I'm really nervous about being here. I came upon this website by accident and I feel really guilty for joining as I still don't really want to get better and also I am quite far in my recovery so I feel like I have no right to be here. I just could really do with talking with people who understand what I'm going through.
I've been up and down for the past three years and have only just started to get better, and thats really only because I can't stand putting my family through it again. But recently I started having thoughts about going backwards again and don't know what to do. If anyone has got any advice I would really appreciate it. Sorry for being a nusiance.

Hi,
I think its great that you've decided to join us here! sharing experience is all part of recovering yourself and helping others recover too.
Personally i've had anorexia for almost 3 years. I attend a camhs clinic now and am probably halfish way through my physical recovery. However, i have these thoughts of turning back that you speak of. I try to ignore them and i try to forget but they won't go away. I know its not much help, but i just thought i'd tell you i know how you feel so you're not alone.
We mustn't go backwards though. thats not the point of recovery. I think maybe we should try to remember how bad it was when our EDs were worse and how we don't wanna be there again. Always look towards the future - thats what gets everyone through, i believe.

Hey Guys, thanks for all your messages, I feel so welcome which is not very common for me! Adele I really enjoyed meeting you to! Sorry to see you go but hope everything goes well and thanks for the chats!
Frosty, it's nice to know I am not alone in feeling like this, when i try to talk about it to people they go 'but if you are doing it for others, how can you want to go back for YOU'. It's also quite nice that we have both been going through it for a similar amount of time. Hopefully you are still doing ok, message me if you want to talk.
Sorry to be a pain again guys, but I am having an increase in my diet plan tomorrow and although I have talked to people about it I do not know how i am going to manage, does anyone have any advice?

wg, how old are you? I think the thing to remember is that at whatever stage of recovery you are at, the next stage is always going to seem impossible and really out of your comfort zone. Can you remember what you did the last time sth in your treatment plan changed? And when you 1st started a meal plan, what techniques you used to help you through it? I know that ana has such a strong hold and sometimes however hard you try, ana tries and holds u back. I think remember why you're doing this, so that you have your life back, with energy and so that you can smile and have fun again. Recovery is not easy but it is manageable...it is just piece by piece. An ed does not develop overnight and so u can't expect to recover overnight either. wg, you're doing gr8 and with the support here, you'll do even better andf beat ana once and for all.

Hey sorry for the late reply! Thanks for your advice adele, I keep saying 'I did'nt develop overnight and I won't get better overnight' to myself when I'm stressing. You are right, I've manged to keep up with my increase, even though it has been hard at times! :) Btw, I'm 17, I know I probably seem younger though! How are you doing adele??
