Hi I wanted to know if anyone out there in this lonely web world suffers from IBS and an eating disorder at the same time. If you haven't heard of IBS, it's short for irritable bowel syndrome (yeah i know not a nice name). Its quite complicated and there are loads of different types so its hard to explain it in a sentence but it basically means that digestion is quite difficult and painful for the sufferer. I have been suffering with an ED for 2 years and IBS, they both make each other worse and I get very frustrated with both of them. The pain saps any motivation I have to eat, it sometimes feels like a man with a machete is trapped in my stomach! I find it really unfair that I have to cope with the mental barriers of the ED and these physical barriers aswell. However I don't want to drown in self-pity and really want to get over both so I can actually have my life back! If there is anyone who has this problem aswell it would be amazing if you would get in touch, as i would love to know how other people cope with it. I know it can be quite embarrassing to talk about, but I do believe that sharing always helps!Lots of love, Roxie

im danielle btw, im 15 n im a christian. i was ana till God healed me in jan.
i fink i do remember someone on here before hu had IBS n a ed but i cant remember hu. maybe try n post this on the ed board as well as more ppl read them.
i feel reali sorri for u hunni, i no how hard it is to hav an ED as it is wivout ur xtra difficulties it must b so hard.

Um....i'm not sure whether i suffer from IBS or not, but i do have some of the symptoms, and my mum suffers from it, and my stepdad, so i suppose i might have it. I have a really bad stomach after i have eaten, and i get indigestion and feel sick.
I'm sorry to hear that you have IBS. I have an ED as well, which switches between restricting and binge eating.
