First cut and so it begins,

Expressing the torment that lies within,

My blood I spill as a cry for help,

The only way is to harm myself.

As I feel my emotions inside of me

Conflicting and clashing so violently,

I am armed with a razor, some scissors, a knife,

But is my intention to end my life?

No, not exactly, please let me explain

Why I am satisfied from this rush of pain.

It is an instant release from the sadness inside,

An adrenalin rush that I cannot describe.

My feelings entice me, they’re hard to contain,

This is why I find it so hard to refrain,

I pierce, I scratch, I damage, I bruise,

Attacking the heartache, I swear this is true.

But when all is over what’s left behind?

A mark, a scar, not easy to hide.

My head, it is screaming, I feel so much worse,

So guilty, so weak, so tearful, so hurt.

Its a bit depressin i know and im soz bout that, but this poem really helped me express myself.

All my love

Anna-Louise

I have a friend who self-harms and makes herself sick after meals.

To be honest with you this made me cry.

its so good to know that other people feel the same way and you cant understand the feeling unless you have experienced it. it not so easy as just stopping. it runs deeper than that.

Sorry to hear this, I used to self harm a few years back, but I stopped until once a month ago, which has been a one off.

If you need a voice or a person to talk you, i'll always be here

Regards,

Robbie

This poem made me think so much. I used to self-harm and I just got called a freak and stuff, so this poem made me think about why I used to do this to myself and why I sometimes still do. Thank you for writing that poem, it sums up how I feel really well. It's strangely beautiful as well- kind of comforting that I am not the only one who has felt that way. Hannah xxx

this poem really reached me. in life we do alot of self distructing things to cope. like drink, smoke, drugs. yet self harming is looked down opon more than the rest when the results are basically the same. just remember noone can make you feel inSuperior with out your concent, take care love mel xxx
