Hi I'm looking for someone to clear up this worry I have. Right so I'm just over a month into my recovery and last night I had something additional to my meal plan (a big step I guess) however I went a little crazy and I just wanted to know if anyone else has done this when in recovery? I'm usually so strict and controlling that I'm REALLY worried that this means ones I'm recovered I'll just eat uncontrollably and will have no control over my urges for food. So I wondered if it was normal behaviour when you're getting used to food again to perhaps go a little crazy at first, Someone please help me out and if anyone else experienced things like this please let me know. I sat and cried for hours afterwards, because I genuinely thought I'd lost control over myself. . Sorry for the essay guys I'm just stressing out over this so much! Love you guys x

There is nothing wrong with getting a little paranoid and out of control when in recovery. I have been recovering from bulimia for a long time and have just been signed off from my recovery clinic :) I remember when I first gained weight, it wasn't even a large weight gain but I completely lost it, cried for hours on end and refused to leave my bed or let anyone see me. But it wont last, keep going with your new meal plan and eventually you will stop getting so upset about it, and then you can work at improving it. Its never easy trying to recover, but you should never be disappointed in yourself, don't think about loosing control as being a bad thing, think about adding to your meal plan as a good thing! If you get like this again do something you enjoy! A thing that helped me was writing a diary every time I went a little off the rails, I also wrote songs and sung them to myself. You could write poems or listen to other peoples songs that describe how you feel. If it would help you I could send you the lyrics to the song I wrote describing my eating disorder. It takes your mind off things, so you don't think about your weight or eating. Hope this has helped! Love Chelsea xxx
