Some people with an eating disorder may find that they deal with the difficult feelings and emotions in their life by turning to alcohol or drugs to help boost their confidence or self-esteem. A certain level of recovery from this may be necessary before treatment for the eating disorder can start.

If one or both of your parents is alcoholic and you need some support you can find some help here NACOA (National Association for Children of Alcoholics), they also have a helpline 0800 358 3456,calls to the helpline are free, and do not show up on landline phone bills. Calls are confidential and there is no need to give your name.
The helpline is open: Monday and Friday 10 am to 7 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10 am to 9 pm, Saturday 10 am to 3 pm
