Housemates

You might have just moved into student residencies (halls) and discovered that one of the people you are living with has an eating disorder or you may being finding it hard sharing a house with a friend who has an eating disorder.

While it is important to remember that an eating disorder is an illness and many of the behaviours that your friend is displaying is because of this it is, it is also important to realise that sharing a living space with this illness is tough and that if you are struggling with it you deserve help and support too. Admitting that this is a diffcult situation is nothing to be ashamed of, it is clear that you care about them as you have taken the time to look for help  and information on this site. You might want to print off some information for your housemate, maybe our helpline, or direct them to our page for those at uni or college with an eating disorder.

If you don't know much about eating disorders you might want to learn a bit more by clicking here. You might want to talk through things with our helpline. If things are really getting to you you might want to think about speaking to a counsellor to help you talk through stuff. Information about counsellor can be found here.
