i dont know if anyone has any helpful hints or suggestions but anything would be greatly appreciated. i've been in recovery since christmas, since then i've put on enough weight to lead a relativley normal life, i can exercise, socialize and work but i'm still not having periods and am relying quite heavily on supplement drinks. although i'm eating a lot more now than i ever imagined possible at one stage i dont know how to move on and go that extra mile that is potentially the difference between being completley cured or not. I also find difficulties in making decisions about what i want to eat,if i make what i feel is a 'wrong' decision i find it quite hard to get back on track with my meal plan. if anyone has any sort of coping strategies or suggestions that would be great.thanks

Hi,

I've got EDNOS/anorexia, and have had it for the last two years. I've been an inpatient for three months because my weight dropped too low, and at the moment i am going through stages of starvation and then binge eating.

The best thing that you can do is to try and increase your meals a bit each week, so that eventually you get to what you feel is a good, but acceptable amount of food. That way you will be happier and healthier.

Do you see a counsellor/school nurse/psychiatrist or anyone like that to help you? I find that talking about my problems really helps.

hope you're okay,

-xxx- lillies

heya

i am wat you could say "cured" and thats all because i have come through so much over a short amount of time and have become a mich stronger person which has helped me with my desicions in life, especialy around food.

I can choose appropriate meals, and what i find helps is if you use plenty of variety in your meal choices, and if things get too much let your mum take over for a while.

over the weeks gradually increase your intake, and perhaps add a snack in somewhere, and carry on with the build up drinks if they help more than soluble food.

your periods will return when your healthy enough for them to return, howver this is different for everyone. my periods retunred unexpectedly when i was still a bit underweight, but i suppose it ws a good sign becasue it had almost been a year since they stopped so i was lucky they came back =]

if you need some more help, or just want a chat, please do let me know!!!

thankyou, yeah i'm an out patient but i see a therapist, a dietician and am weighed etc, weekly. i think its perhaps its just having a bit more confidence with regards to my decisions, which will then make me  a bit more confident around food gradually, aswell as in general. and also listening to the logical and positive voice in my head NOT the anorexic one.

it'll get there i'm sure, step by step.thankyou lots, best wishes to you both xx
