Santa runs, yogathons and sponsored Zumba - by Emma Roper, Senior Fundraiser

I love this time of year and enjoying our beautiful Norfolk countryside and the autumnal colours.  And of course everyone’s thoughts will soon be turning to Christmas and New Year and everything that it brings.  We are getting into the spirit here at Beat and really excited to be taking part in a new event – the 5km Santa Runs.  Held on 4th December in Greenwich Park, London and 11th December in Heaton Park, Manchester these are really fun events for all members of the family – all entrants sign up to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship and receive a Beat Fundraising Pack and a free Santa costume to wear!  If you are interested more details are available on our website.  With my work hat on my thoughts are already turning to next spring – and specifically the 2012 London Marathon.  We have just confirmed our Beat team and our runners will soon start training and fundraising hard.  This will be the 3rd marathon I have been involved in and it is always a real pleasure to work with our dedicated fundraisers who are so committed and dedicated.  All of our runners have their own personal reasons for taking part and supporting Beat – some are carers’, some are bereaved families and others have overcome their eating disorder and want to give something back. As always we are really grateful to them all.  But you don’t have to be a marathon runner to raise vital funds for Beat – over the last couple of months there has been a sponsored yogathon,a  sponsored Zumba night and our ever popular Skydives!  It’s great to be working with such an imaginative bunch of supporters.
