We reserve the right to remove or edit any content that we feel is inappropriate. This inappropriate content includes:

• Encouraging people to gain or lose weight, or resist treatment.

• Detailed accounts of exercise.

• Drugs or medication by name, however it is ok to talk in terms of ‘being on antidepressants’.

You may feel annoyed if your post is edited, but we ask service users to understand that we edit posts in order to protect vulnerable people. We understand that it is important for a sufferer to talk about a difficult day, and to explain what they might have been feeling, but certain information may be triggering for other users who may not be as far along in their recovery. Some content may also be edited as it might trigger competitive behaviour in some users, and we aim to protect our service users as much as we can. If your post is edited, try to think if there is a different way that you could explain your feelings. Most posts would not be edited if they were in a different context. Beat developed the message boards as a space which would allow people to gain comfort, support and understanding from empathic people, and we strive to achieve this.
