Leave a legacy

Thank you for considering leaving Beat a gift in your Will. Legacy donations help us to plan our long term work and continue to support those affected by eating disorders.

We understand you’ll want to make sure your loved ones are safe and provided for but any gift you can afford will enable us to be there in the future and lead us to our vision – that eating disorders will be beaten.

As a one time carer for someone with an eating disorder, I benefited enormously from the Beat services and I feel very strongly that Beat’s work is both vital and unique. By giving them a bit of extra help in the future, I hope that other carers like me will be able to cope better, and lives might be saved as a result.

What types of gifts can you leave?

There are different ways you can leave money in your Will:

  • A share of your estate. After you’ve taken care of your family and friends you can leave a share or the remainder of your estate to Beat. This is called a ‘residuary gift’.
  • A ‘pecuniary gift’. This is a gift of an exact sum of money.
  • A specific gift - a possession that you’d like to leave to Beat.

How can I leave a gift in my Will?

Leaving a legacy is an important decision but it doesn’t have to be a complicated one. Here’s the basics of making a gift in your Will:

  1. State in your Will that you would like to leave a gift to Beat. We always recommend using a solicitor or a professional Will-writer to make sure that your Will is both legal and valid
  2. Include our full name and charity number to make sure the gift is made to the right place: Eating Disorders Association trading as Beat, Wensum House, 103 Prince of Wales Road, Norwich NR1 1DW. Company Number: 2368495 Registered Charity Number: 801343 Scottish Charity Number: SC039309
  3. Amend your existing Will by completing a Codicil Form available from your solicitor

If you have already made a gift to Beat in your Will, we’d love it if you could let us know
