This year help us to break the silence and beat eating disorders

The Break the Silence campaign was launched during our Eating Disorders Awareness Week in February.  We designed the campaign around research from a survey of 1,000 people with experience of eating disorders and the results were shocking.

  • 58% didn't tell anyone about thier eating disorder because they didn't know how to talk about it
  • 65% waited for more than six months before confiding in someone
  • 87% didn't contact a healthcare professional when they first realised they had a problem

This has to stop.

We all need to Break the Silence about eating disorders and we want to continue this campaign throughout 2012.  We want sufferers to come forward, loved ones to approach those they are concerned about and make everyone aware of eating disorders.  The more people talk about eating disorders in an understanding way, the more those affected will feel they can reach out for support.
